Autumn At Wits End Weekend Workshop

“Autumn At Wits End” with Angele Carter of Fabric And Ink.

Come and stitch two pretty Autumn themed projects! We’ll spend a day, and a half surrounded by soft felt, gorgeous embroidery floss and new friends. Projects will include a lovely felt tag perfect for keeping or gifting and a sweet Wits End Cottage pincushion.

 Angele has been working with felt and embroidery for over fifteen years. In 2020, during lockdown, Angele created the imaginary English village of Wits End. Nestled deep in the English countryside Wits End borders The Enchanted Forest, and both are full of magic and fairytales. These days, Angele tells whimsical stories through the mediums of felt and embroidery and is excited to stitch with you in this weekend workshop.

November 8th and 9th

Saturday 1.00pm – 4.30pm

Join us for a welcome snack at 1pm and get settled, class begins promptly at 1.30pm

Skill Level – Intermediate

In this workshop we will make an Autumnal felt tag. We will start with an introduction to wool felt and felted wool, cover techniques for cutting out small shapes and the basics of felt applique. Getting comfortable with cutting and stitching small pieces of felt will help prepare for the “Wits End Cottage” project in our full day workshop.

Sunday 9am -12pm

8.30am we will have coffee and doughnuts available for you to enjoy whilst you get settled.  Class starts promptly at 9.00am

Skill Level - Intermediate

In this workshop we will work through the process of making an Autumn themed Wits End Cottage. Angele will demonstrate and share tips for each step of cottage construction as well as suggest possibilities for personalization.

Sunday 12pm – 1pm Lunch Break

Sunday 1pm – 4pm

In this session we will continue working on the cottage project and Angele will demonstrate how to roof, stuff and finish the cottage.

What’s Included

The Class Kit contains all the supplies needed to make a felt tag (plus extra to make a second tag at home later) and all the supplies to make a Wits End Cottage pincushion.

The kit includes

100% wool felt

Hand dyed felted wool

12 full skeins of DMC stranded embroidery floss (including several of Angele’s favorite variegated threads!)

Ribbon

Premium fiber fill stuffing

Embroidery needle and applique pins

Freezer paper

Printed patterns for both projects

Angele’s favorite flower shaped paint palette (for organizing little felt shapes)

An art postcard of the Wits End Cottage

Something special, handstitched just for you by Angele

All necessary tools will be provided for in-class use.

Saturday afternoon welcome snack, Sunday coffee and doughnuts, Sunday lunch catered by Mendicino Farms

Snacks and water will be available throughout the weekend.

You are welcome to bring your own if you prefer but PLEASE NO NUTS AT ALL IN THE STORE DUE TO ALLERGY.

All necessary tools will be provided for in-class use.

Skills required

Basic embroidery skills required. Stitches used include backstitch, whipstitch, lazy daisy, french knots.

Space is limited so please ensure all bags etc are stowed safely under your chair and table
