Gauge.  What is it? Why is it important?

Before you dive into knitting your next project, let's not skip the most important part. Our Gauge Swatch.  This small but mighty piece of fabric will give us so much information that we need for success.  Imagine spending hours making your garment and at the end it doesn't fit correctly, either too tight or two loose.  Knitting your gauge swatch will save you from heartbreak by helping you to match the stitch and row gauge to your pattern's requirements.   This is your secret weapon to well-fitting garment whose outcome you love.

If your new to the process or just need a refresher you're in the right place.  Boost your confidence and explore knitting a gauge swatch for project success.

We have 2 dates available for this class you only need to attend one.  Please let us know when you purchase which class you plan to attend

If you have chosen your project and yarn.  Please check your pattern for gauge details listed and follow the instructions to knit in pattern, check this carefully.  We suggest making 3 swatches each approx. 6 inches square, swatch1 in needle size recommended, swatch 2 one size larger and swatch 3 one size smaller.  Bring them with you to class and we can help you measure and find the perfect yarn and needle combination.

If you are joining our Summer Sweater Knit Along for Sylven by Natsja Hornby, we can help you choose yarn in advance and then you will make the 3 swatches as listed above, follow the directions as this pattern does require your swatch in pattern.  We will not be swatching and measuring for the knitalong during the event, so if you are unsure, please take the time for this class
