Lucy Claire Backpack/Messenger Workshop.

This workshop will run 3 sessions to have you making the most charming backpack/messenger bag.  Once knitted we will then felt it to give it the strong and sturdy bag we know you will love for every season.

This project is aimed at the ADVENTUROUS BEGINNER.

The pattern is very well written and includes a lot of video tutorials for all the things you may be unsure of.

Session 1 Monday June 22nd 5.30pm-7.30pm We will cast on using the Icord cast on method and set up for the increases and make the button hole.  Then continue on to working in the round for the body of the bag.  You will have 2 weeks to finish the body.

Session 2 Monday July 6th 5.30pm-7.30pm   Will the bottom of the bag and grafting together.  Along with pocket set up and placement, we will also go over the i cord straps.

Over the next 8 days you will make the pockets and the straps, leaving you two days for felting.

You will felt your bag per instructions in the pattern and have it dry and blocked in time for next session.  

Session 3 Thursday July 16th 5.30p-7pm We will be putting the bags together with leather details and adding a button.

Skills Needed.

Cast on , Knit, Purl, Increase, Decrease, I Cord, keeping track of rows and stitch count.  Kitchener Stitch is a plus but we can teach you this.

Skills to Challenge

Icord Cast On, Grafting, Felting, Wet Splicing, sewing on leather details.

Materials Needed

Each student must have their own copy of the pattern purchased from

9 24" circular knitting needles, stitch markers, row counter, notebook and pencil, basic tool kit, reading glasses

Workshop fee will include everything needed to make the project ( excluding pattern, and tools for knitting)
